Karen Thomisee-Leasure is a Board-Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and forensic medical provider. She is rostered with the NC Child Medical Evaluation Program to assess, diagnose, and provide recommendations for children suspected of experiencing abuse, neglect, or drug endangerment. With extensive experience in both primary care and behavioral and mental health care for children, Karen works closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver trauma-informed care in her community.

Karen attended Emory University School of Nursing, where she was selected for a special fellowship recognizing students who demonstrated a strong commitment to social responsibility and leadership. Before returning to North Carolina, she participated in healthcare delivery and research efforts aimed at improving health outcomes in underserved communities both globally and locally. Through her work with the Burke County CAC, Karen continues to focus on providing comprehensive, compassionate care for children and families.
